Please read these Terms of Use carefully before accessing or using Lawtext. By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using our platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. About Lawtext
Lawtext is a legal content and technology platform operated by Juris Services & Technology ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"). The platform provides Indian legal professionals, advocates, law students, and researchers with:
- A searchable repository of Indian court judgments and legal content
- AI-powered tools for headnote generation, legal analysis, and summarisation
- Voice-to-text and OCR document tools for legal drafting
- Subscription-based premium access to curated legal resources
- One-time judgment PDF downloads
- Community-submitted legal articles and resources
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
To access premium features or create an account on Lawtext, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a legal professional, law student, or legal researcher based in India or accessing Indian legal content
- Provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at reachus@lawtext.in if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
3.1 Subscription Plans
Lawtext offers multiple subscription tiers granting access to different levels of content and features. Plan details, pricing, and included permissions are displayed on the Subscriptions page.
3.2 Payment
All subscription payments are processed securely through Cashfree Payments India Pvt. Ltd. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge the applicable fees to your selected payment method. All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable GST.
3.3 Recurring Subscriptions
Certain plans are offered as recurring subscriptions billed automatically at each renewal cycle via Cashfree's payment mandate system. By choosing a recurring plan, you authorise automatic charges until you cancel. You may cancel recurring billing at any time through your account dashboard.
3.4 Plan Changes
You may upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan at any time. Prorated credits for unused days on your current plan may be applied toward the cost of the new plan, subject to our proration policy.
3.5 Non-Refundable Payments
All subscription fees and one-time purchase payments are non-refundable. Please refer to our Refund Policy for details.
3.6 Fee Changes
We reserve the right to modify subscription fees at any time. You will be notified of any price changes at least 14 days in advance via email before they take effect on your account.
4. One-Time Downloads
Certain judgment PDFs may be purchased as one-time downloads for a fixed fee. A download link is generated and valid for 24 hours from the time of purchase. One-time download fees are non-refundable.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Lawtext solely for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable Indian laws. You must not:
- Share, resell, sublicense, or redistribute any premium content or your account credentials with any third party
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to extract content from the platform without written permission
- Copy, reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit any platform content in violation of our intellectual property rights
- Upload or transmit any malicious code, harmful content, or material that infringes the rights of others
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, our servers, or associated databases
- Use AI-generated legal analysis from Lawtext as a substitute for qualified legal advice without independent verification
- Circumvent any subscription restrictions, access controls, or permission gates
6. Intellectual Property
Court judgments available on Lawtext are public domain documents. However, the following elements are proprietary and owned by or licensed to Juris Services & Technology:
- Curated content structure, categories, and metadata
- AI-generated headnotes, summaries, and legal analyses
- Platform design, user interface, and software code
- Lawtext brand, logo, and trademarks
- Legal articles and original content published on the platform
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any proprietary content without our prior written consent.
7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Lawtext uses artificial intelligence to generate headnotes, legal summaries, analysis, and related content. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content is provided for informational and research purposes only
- It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified legal professional
- AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies and you are responsible for independently verifying its accuracy before relying on it
- Juris Services & Technology is not liable for any decisions made based on AI-generated content
8. User-Submitted Content
By submitting articles, records, or other content to Lawtext, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and use that content on our platform. You represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.
We reserve the right to remove any user-submitted content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or our editorial standards without prior notice.
9. Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your access to the platform and premium content will cease immediately
- No refund will be issued for any unused subscription period
- Any outstanding obligations owed to us survive termination
You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us at reachus@lawtext.in.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:
- The platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
- Any legal information or AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or current
- The platform will meet your specific requirements
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Juris Services & Technology shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform, including loss of data, revenue, or legal opportunity. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months immediately preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Juris Services & Technology and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your user-submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it carefully.
14. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
